Writing the land
A self-paced exploration of nature-inspired writing practices
Much of the modern world's severe crisis is built on the rupture between human + nature, between us + the land we are part of. Society, and especially the virtual space, has become insanely loud, and perceiving the voice of our actual guides, our original leaders (=mountains, rivers, birch trees, beetles, snakes and wolves) is becoming harder by the day.
The role of the writer and poet in this time is to bring back those silenced voices. To listen and learn the language of the land, to bring it forth through our own words, maybe even to become the pen and allow nature to be the writing hand.
This is what I've been doing for the past decade, and what I'm honoured to share with you now!
WRITING THE LAND is a creative cohort for those drawn to stories, poetry + literature in general, but are still lacking confidence as writers or as those who lend their voices to the more-than-human world.
It is structured as a 7-step protocol filled with tools from nature + art therapy, writing prompts, research + resources to uplevel not only your writing skills, but also your connection to nature as the original muse.
There is 7 lessons, each one containing 3 or 4 exercises - including witnessing meditations, intuitive writing, vocabulary research, medicine walks, movement sessions, writing the body, LandArt, creating wild brushes, quills + inks, giving back to the land, developing your own style, animist writing prompts and and and...
The lessons are applicable to any language, any style of writing and any unique rhythm + daily schedule. Meaning that you are free to complete the self-paced lessons within 7 days, 7 weeks, 7 months or whichever time you need to really integrate the teachings into your practice.
