I´m Janna.

I'm an artist, writer & teacher rooted in the German Blackforest.
Inspired by the animate nature around me, I witness & weave, forage & form, shape & dream worlds alive, always guided by the intelligence of the materials I use - be it clay, wild pigments, fibers, bark, botanical ink...

My creative process is profoundly connected with the art of witnessing earth as a sentient being. It serves as a way of exploring the essence of place, and excavating the stories held by rocks, rivers, birch groves, beetles & buzzards. All holds meaning, and myth. I try to follow the traces of earth-revering cultures by reclaiming primordial art- and craftforms, hoping that my handbuilt pieces inspire others to explore their own interconnectedness with landscapes & their stories.

Very often, the art I make is inspired by or dedicated to plants. Being a nature therapist, herbal practitioner & medicine maker for almost a decade, I have developped a unique way of communicating with the botanical world, and many of my ceramics, weavings, books or medicines are intended to serve as accessories for the practice of herbcraft & ritual.

“To belong to this earth means to participate in the ongoing dialogue that creation holds with itself.”

On my quest of amplifying the voices perceived from the wild, I also write animist poetry and teach classes on nature-inspired art, plant medicine and native european mythology, hoping they'll provide guidance on the path back to a serene, fulfilled, creative & connected way of being.
I'm also open for customized 1:1 experiences tailored to your specific needs. Just inquire via the contact form at the bottom of this page if you'd like to book a nature therapy session or a private class on one of the craftforms I practice.

I hope that in one way or the other, we meet at this fruitful intersection of nature, art, body & myth that melts the borders between us as humans and the magnificent natural world that we are part of.
